Our Story

About Rip Ty'd

It all started on Rose Island with friends gathering on the beach. My business partner mentioned how keen he was to learn to brew. The group imagined different names for each of our beers. All suggestions were nautical-themed based on different types of “Tides”.

I had the location, and we agreed to meet to discuss a plan of action.

My late husband brewed craft beer at home as a hobby, I found one of his recipes that inspired me. So the plan became “stovetop” brewing. We wanted to name our beer with the nautical reference from the beach. We landed on the name Rip Ty’d which paid homage to my husband Tyrone by changing the spelling of “tide” to Ty’d. Almost 7 years later we are now a part of the craft beer movement!

My business partner has a background in engineering and I finance and retail. We both have an eye for detail and have enjoyed the process as challenging as it has been at times. We would need to sit over a few beers to tell you more…
